Summaries
A reporter meets an actress whose producer is a presumed-dead thief, and stakes his reputation on predicting the next crime.
George Melville (Joel McCrea), a criminologist, is hired onto the staff of a newspaper to help apprehend a master burglar whose targets runs to art treasures and priceless gems, on the basis that the thief and the criminologist have similar tastes. He is aided and mocked by Claire Peyton (Jean Arthur), an actress , who is appearing in a play financed by the burglar with impeccable taste.
Joel McCrea plays a hotshot reporter who thinks he knows everything and Jean Arthur plays an actress who puts one over on him. It turns out the financier of her play is a notorious art collector who steals what he can't buy and the play he's financing is just a front for a job he is planning.
